Discussion - Pastor's Report (Attachment B) - Father Mike

Buzz Clagett will be retiring and transitioning his maintenance responsibilities to Gary Fulmer and Jim Myers.

George Bardsley recommended moving the rear Communion stations, at the gymnasium Christmas service, away from the door, next year.

Ted Burkhardt asked the Council to encourage any long-married couples that would be able and willing to make the trip to the National Cathedral to be honored for their commitment to one another.

The acoustical problem in the hall has been improved by the adjustments of the PA system. Ted Burkhardt reported that panels have been ordered to dampen the echo in the gym.

Tsunami donations go to Catholic Relief in care of Mary D'Ambrogi's office.

Father Mike expressed his appreciation for the St. Michael's Resource and Contact List that Dennis Moore maintains.

Discussion - 2005 Mission Priority Objectives - Jim Lilley

In Jim Lilley's absence, Don and Amy Myers read the submissions of the 3 areas responding: Liturgy, Religious Education and Stewardship.

Discussion - Parish Building Benefit - Mary Beth Russo

The Benefit, to be held April 16 from 7 - 11 PM, will cost $30.00 per person, and will include two tickets for either wine or beer. Planned events include Bingo, line dancing, variety show, and many more activities. The committee is looking for auction item donations such as gift certificates, sporting tickets and memorabilia, vacations, airline tickets, etc. Volunteers are needed to set up and clean up. The objective is to get as many people in the parish involved as possible. Mike Carroll is coordinating donations.

Ted Burkhardt advised that Confirmation is to be held the same weekend.

Discussion - Liturgical Arts-Christmas Efforts Report - Noreen Christian

The report has four topic areas: 1) The Committee has no coordinator. Jim Onaitis sought volunteers at Masses, without success. Jim and Noreen agreed to be acting coordinators, as a result. The list of members was updated and 38 people volunteered to help. In October, there was a planning meeting, which resulted in team leaders named for Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas Church decor and Christmas Gym decor. An inventory was taken of supplies and their location. An archive was developed to aid volunteers. 2) Christmas positives - 2 tree donations were offered bringing the total of trees to six. The effort stayed within budget. Twenty-seven volunteers participated. 3) Christmas problems - Extension cords were missing for the gym and scheduling conflicts delayed the decorating. Noreen recommends that the yearly schedule should be added to the website thus making time tracking more efficient. 4) The future - A meeting is planned for January 15 to attempt to acquire a new coordinator. Periodic announcements in the bulletin are planned. Any assistance from the Council would be appreciated. Adherence to the organizational chart is the goal and involves team leaders for each of the liturgical seasons. Two coordinators would organize the team leaders and manage the administrative tasks.

Noreen commended Kathy Rak for her extraordinary service to the Liturgical Arts. A motion, to bestow a gift certificate to Kathy's favorite restaurant, was proposed and passed.

Discussion - Athletic Association Usage of Gym - Ted Burkhardt

Over 75 kids are practicing and playing basketball on six or seven teams utilizing the gymnasium, now, throughout the week.

The first annual St. Michael's Basketball tournament was very successful, raising approximately $2,400 toward funding a scoreboard. Ted researched the Internet and found scoreboard information, which he emailed to Matt Regan.

Gary Fulmer raised a concern regarding the bottom half of the windows and potential accidents due to collisions and broken glass. Ted said that this glass is safety glass and that there haven't been problems, thus far.

Mary Ann asked whether there were any Council Members interested in the organizational aspect of the Athletic Association. Father Mike suggested that Jim Myers or Bob Clark might be interested or know fellow Parishioners interested in filling this role. Mary Ann also suggested Don Beall as a potential candidate.

Ted said that several kids have stated an interest in a volleyball league.
