There is a great deal of excitement in St. Michael's parish for our youth. Our parish id dedicated to welcoming and nourishing our youth in many ways: from the faith formation programs to youth group activities, to encouraging involvement in different parish youth organizations. St. Michael's values the gifts of our youths and young adults. The Youth and Young Adult Ministry is geared to four age groups: Middle School, High School, College Age and young adults to age 35.
Middle school youth have splash downs, lock-ins, pool parties, mini-camps, ice cream sundae parties, ice skating, bowling, pizza parties, beach trips, lake trips, ski trips and theme park day trips. Small group faith formation sessions are available.
For high school, the opportunities are many: pizza gatherings, activity nights, bay cruises, whitewater rafting, Orioles games, volleyball, camping. skiing, snowboarding, dances, coffeehouses, and other activities picked out and planned by the group. Faith formation activities include Advent retreats, spring retreates, days of reflection, prayer groups, confirmation program, faith group sessions, nation and regional youth conventions, local and international youth days, pilgrimages, and other activities selected by the youth. Social justice and service activities include: weeklong workcamps with Habitat for Humanity, lunch and dinner preparations and serving the homeless in Frederick and Baltimore, collecting clothes and needed articles for the poor and homeless, participation in Justice Action Week in Baltimore, Micah 6:8 weekend program focused on serving others, and joining in the Cropwalk to support local service groups who provide food for those in need. There are many ways to belong, so check the bulletin, ask for our newsletter, or call the office of our Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, extension 6.
For all college age young adults there will be opportunities for getting together for those staying in town and for those away at college. In order to stay in touch and active from afar and during breaks, LEAVE YOUR ADDRESS AND/OR EMAIL with the Youth and Young Adult Coordinator at extension 6, or in the mail box at the church office.
