May 22ndJesus-Our Prayer Example
One easy-to-learn way to pray is the P-R-A-Y model. When we pray, we can take a few minutes, and then expand that time as we go along, to Praise God, Repent, Ask for what we & others need, and Yield to God's will. This is simple & it really works! Who taught us this way to pray? "Surely it was no accident that Jesus often let His disciples see Him conversing with the Father. They could see the strength which it gave to His life, and though they could not understand fully what it was all about, they must have realized that this was part of His secret of life. Note that Jesus did not force the lesson upon them, but rather He just kept praying until at last the disciples got so hungry that they asked Him to teach them…(the Lord's Prayer-Luke 11:1) by Robert E. Coleman Don't you long for that hunger, too? As you study Christ's life, try to experience Him as the disciples did and then let His example lead you to a life of holiness & strength. Try this P-R-A-Y exercise from today's thought: Praise God for Jesus' example of prayer; Repent of any dullness or laziness in learning from Jesus; Ask Him to continue teaching you to come closer to God; Yield to Him today by praying through His model prayer (Luke 11: 2-4) and making a commitment to spend time in prayer each day.
